Kate Harrison was keen on an ecologically friendly, "green" wedding .
So when she got married in Garrison, a Hudson River Valley location, they accessed locally-grown organic food . They did not wish to import flowers, so they did all the floral decorations using flowers from their own garden.
They attempted to ensure that each element, from the wedding invitations to wedding dress, was as environmentally friendly as could be.
Even transporting guests from the wedding ceremony to the wedding reception was done in biodiesel shuttles.
She has put her experience into a book: The Green Bride Guide: How to Plan an Earth-friendly Wedding on Any Budget
Her book has become a bestseller which highlights the number of brides wishing to follow in her footsteps.
Harrison has also started her own Internet-based company thegreenbride.com .
When she started in 2008 the market was around 5 and 10 percent of the total wedding market. A recent survey by David's Bridal shows that nearly half of couples in the USA would like a green wedding.
