Thu, 26 May 2011

Student florists from Bath are being given the chance to show off their floral designs to thousands of people at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show .

The City of Bath College students are exhibiting a range of eye-catching pieces and carrying out demonstrations in front of thousands of flower and garden enthusiasts this week.

Lucy Price, one of seven student florists present at the event, said: "I feel very privileged to be involved in something like the Chelsea Flower Show . It's a dream come true, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – I can't wait."

Floristry tutor Louise Rawlings said she and her colleagues were proud of the group.

"Chelsea Flower Show is one of the world's most prestigious flower shows and to be invited to exhibit is a real privilege," she commented.

"It reflects very well on the national reputation of the college's floristry department and our talented students whose high-profile competition victories have really helped put us on the map."

Last year, the coveted New Covent Garden Market College Award also went to a team of students from the college, while talented florist and then college student Bethan McGivern won the bronze award in the under- 25s section of the Chelsea Florist of the Year competition.
