Bach flower remedies get their very own garden

Thu, 13 Jan 2011

Bach Flower Remedies discovered by Dr Edward Bach in the 1930s is to have a garden growing all the plants used to create the remedies.

An environmental project, the garden will be based at the Offshoots permaculture in Burnley. The project is funded by the Big Lottery Awards and will run workshops managed by expert Jackie Stewart on making and growing remedies.

Jackie Stewart said, "Some of the Bach Flower Remedy plants are already on the site at Offshoots and surrounding Towneley Park.

"When we grow the remainder we believe this will make it a world first – there is a garden in Switzerland that grows 36 of the 37 plants, but we intend to grow them all. Two of the plants that will be grown are rare and declining, but we hope we can save these plants from disappearing altogether."

Training course commence on 4 February where there will also be regular walks to learn about the therapeutic values of trees in the park.

Further details can be found on their website – offshoots.org.uk. Courses run for 12 weeks and cost £80, concessions are available for the unemployed.
