Tue, 19 Apr 2011

The Harrogate Spring Flower Show, North Yorkshire’s biggest flower festival, proved a huge success yet again last week, attracting thousands of flower lovers from all over the UK.

More than 13,000 people made their way to the Great Yorkshire Showground on the opening day (Thursday 14 April) alone to see scores of local florists and gardeners display their floral creations.

Over the four days (April 14 -17), visitors were treated to a range of beautiful outside show gardens, designed around the theme of sustainability, a new ' Gardening with Nature' area, stunning flower halls and pieces of floral artwork from around the country.

The Flower Show also included cookery theatres with food experts, fruit and vegetable growing demonstrations, the popular Garden Roadshow, various fine foods stalls and local crafts and gifts stands, and a garden Discovery Zone for children.

The Harrogate Spring Flower Show is organised by the North of England Horticultural Society, which is a leading gardening charity supporting horticulture in the North. This year’s event marked the Society’s 100th anniversary.
