A former fashion designer has opened the first independent floristry school in Gwent, South Wales.
Abi Watts first became interested in floristry ten years ago when she was working as a floral print designer for fashion giants Prada, Ralph Lauren and high street fashion retailer Monsoon.
Miss Watts decided to leave the fashion industry and enter the floristry sector in 2008. Two years later she is now the proud owner of Rosie's, a boutique florist in the Caldicot area of Gwent.
She said: "Floristry has always been a real passion of mine, and after working in design and business development I wanted to return to my first love."
As well as selling a wide range of flowers and plants, Miss Watts also runs a variety of courses from her store, including wreath making, party flowers, hand tied bouquets and arrangement master classes.
"I try to make it relaxing and enjoyable," she said. "Students come in not knowing what they can do, and end up going away with something which they're quite thrilled by, which is lovely."
Rosie's is Gwents first independent flower school, and Miss Watts believes it could be the first of its kind in Wales outside of college and university courses .
