Red Roses A Perfect Gift For Men As Well As Women

Thu, 25 Mar 2010

Red roses have a far deeper meaning than just love and romance, according to the Flowers and Plants Association.

In the UK, over 40 million red roses are exchanged between loved ones on Valentines Day .

But the Association believes that as well as being the perfect gift choice for Valentine’s Day, the red rose is also a suitable choice for St George's Day as it has a floral meaning for mean as well as women.

According to the organisation, red roses were the national flower of England's patron saint and it is said they symbolise a true love for history, culture, and heritage.

Sarah Holland of the Flowers and Plants Association said: "Research has proven that men like receiving flowers as much as women do, showing roses aren't just for girls, but for real men, too!"

When buying flowers for men, the group recommends mixing deep red and purple flowers together, or adding seasonal white flowers like fragrant lily-of-the-valley with red roses – the colours of St George .
