Interflora has scooped a major marketing award at the 2010 New Media Age Effectiveness Awards, one of the biggest events in the interactive media industry.

The UK’s leading online florist won the award for Best Use of Email. The winners of the award are chosen by judges for their imagination, innovation, best practice and success.

Marketing director Michael Barringer accepted the accolade at event, which is held every year at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London to recognise and celebrate the most effective work done in the new media sector over the past year

Interflora has always placed great emphasis on email marketing as an important way to communicate with its customers.

The company collaborated with RedEye – the market leaders in behavioural email – to implement its innovative Customer Contact Plan, which is aimed at helping improve customer communication through email marketing.

The plan worked to engage more customers by introducing a monthly four-week email communication plan, a new email subscription process and a disengagement programme.

The email initiative also kept customers fully up to date with Interflora services, including the delivery of flowers, plants and gifts for special occasions .
