Flower delivery giant Interflora is celebrating after picking up a gold medal for their Floral Design Exhibit at the recent RHS Chelsea Flower Show .

Judges at the prestigious event praised the outstanding creativity and artistic construction of the company’s ‘Progression' exhibit, which was on display in the Great Pavilion.

Interflora said the 3m tall contemporary design installation, which featured spheres created from a variety of flowers including hydrangeas, roses and carnations, was a representation of the creativity and expertise demonstrated by the 1,900 Interflora florists across the UK and Ireland.

Commenting on the accolade, award-winning Interflora florist David Ragg said: "I am delighted with the Gold medal and it is a testament to the hard work of the whole team."

"Our original concept was created to convey a love for change and the joy of embracing it and moving forward. This positive approach not only represents Interflora's outlook today, but is a symbol of national optimism in a changing society."

As well as claiming gold for their floral design exhibit, six Interflora florists were awarded medals in the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year Awards, including a gold medal for Clare Allen of Skipps Florist .

Commenting on the awards, Interflora President Rhys Hughes said: "Recognition by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for both 'Progression' and our individual florists shows that Interflora has real expertise and flair for design; each and every one of our florists can create something truly spectacular."

"Every now and then we like to push the boundaries and test people's perceptions of a brand that is now as much a part of British heritage as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show itself."
