Men Willing To Spend A Lot More On Flowers For Partners Than Mothers

Tue, 26 Jan 2010

Men spend some 50 per cent more on flowers for their wives and girlfriends than they do on their mum, according to new research by top UK florists Serenata Flowers .

The company said its sales figures for Valentines Day and Mothers Day -related goods last year showed that the average man is willing to spend a considerable amount more on presents and gifts for Valentine's Day than on Mother's Day.

Serenata managing director, Peter Ahl said: "We examined our purchase data and were somewhat stunned how much extra men are prepared to use on their girlfriend, wife or partner compared to their mum."

"We had the idea the number might be slightly higher - possibly around 10 per cent or 20 per cent - however 50 per cent more is quite surprising."

"It just shows that most men are willing to push the boat out at Valentine’s," he added. "It also confirms the old wisdom about a son is a son until he meets the person that becomes his life companion."

London-based Serenata Flowers offers an award-winning same-day and next-day nationwide delivery service on all product orders.
