Online Florist Reveals December Sales Boom

Tue, 09 Feb 2010

eFlorist, one of the leading UK florists network, have revealed that online sales in December rose 70 per cent year-on-year.

The web-based flower retailer said the strong trading performance was partly due to opening hours being extended to 1pm on Christmas Eve, with the promise of all same-day orders taken before then being hand-delivered to customers later that day.

The company added that the sales figures indicated that flowers and flower-related gifts were still the personal present of choice for partners, family and friends during 2009, despite the tough economic conditions.

Alistair Weatherill of eFlorist said: "We're really pleased with the increase in sales during one of the market's busier months, and such a large increase backs up the theory that shopping for flowers online is the way forward for the industry."

"We're looking for the momentum to carry on throughout January and the new decade ahead at eFlorist, and will have many future deals available for our customers as a result."

He added: "We would also like to say thanks to our florists who worked so hard on Christmas Eve to deliver a personal touch to our customers over the festive period."

eFlorist, which used to trade under the name, Teleflorist, provide a same-day flower delivery service across the UK and to over 140 countries worldwide. All flowers are hand-prepared and delivered by a network of local florists .
