Strong Valentines Day Sales Expected By Online Florist

Sales of flowers and other gifts for Valentines Day will rise considerably this year, according to one of the UK’s leading online florists .

Serenata Flowers has revealed that it expects Valentine's Day sales to grow by around a third from last year’s figure as the UK economy starts to emerge from the recession.

The web-based flower delivery firm said that its sales figures for the last six months indicate that spending on flowers is back to normal, and it expects both men and women to treat their partners with flowers, chocolates and even champagne on February 14.

Peter Ahl, managing director of Serenata Flowers, said: "Previous year was tough and customers didn’t spend as much cash on presents for Valentine's Day."

"But the signs are that this year will be different. We expect that our sales of cut flowers and plants, chocolates, wine and sparkling wine to go up by 30 per cent."

"The last note we obtain from Christmas proves that numerous are ready to beginning to spend yet again."

He added that the company expects red roses to remain the best-selling flower this year, despite data showing that men are widening their selection of colours and flower types for Valentine’s Day.
