One of the world’s top events for young florists is to take place in the UK this summer at this year's RHS Show Tatton Park .

Eurofleurs, which is organised by the international organisation of florists FLORINT, will see 20 junior floral experts from different countries battle it out in a bid to claim the prestigious title of Eurofleurs champion.

The event, which is held every four years, is designed to give florists under the age of 25 the opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage.

To participate, each florist must first win their national trials. Joe Massie from Liverpool will be representing Britain. The florist has already won five national competitions, including RHS Chelsea Young Florist of the Year.

At the event, each competitor will face five tasks based around the concept of "art at Tatton Park ."

The competition will be judged by the UK floristry judges guild, plus international judges from FLORINT including representatives from Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Croatia and Italy .

Commenting on the event, RHS show manager for Tatton, Kris Hulewicz said: "Eurofleurs 2010 will be one of the big showpieces of the RHS Show Tatton Park 2010. "

"This event is the world cup of floristry and the standard is always thrilling, so it's wonderful that visitors will get the opportunity to experience it first hand and soak up the atmosphere of excitement and friendly rivalry."

Denis Van Wonderen, events director for the British Floral Association, added: "Winning this competition is the highest accolade that a young florist can achieve, so the rivalry will no doubt be intense. "

"However, Eurofleurs is all about bringing together the international floristry community to grow and share ideas, so it's an amazing opportunity for everyone taking part."

The 2010 Eurofleurs competition will take place in at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, which will run from 21-25 July. For more information visit eurofleurs2010.com .
