Wed, 21 Apr 2010

Florists in Dorset are set to battle it out at next month’s World Skills UK regional final, which is being hosted Kingston Maurward College .

Twenty trainee and professional florists from the south west have entered the event and will compete against the clock to create the region’s best floral masterpieces.

It is the first time the Kingston Maurward College has hosted the regional final of the prestigious competition.

The event will take place on May 9, from 9.45am to 3pm, and will be open to members of the public who will be able to watch the florists in action.

Floristry lecturer Tracey Nadin said: "It will be great fun for those watching and for those taking part nerves of steel are needed because they won’t know until the day what flowers, foliage and sundries they’ll be working with."

"They will be doing this against the clock to add to the drama."
