A florist shop has celebrated 40 years of offering beautiful flowers and plants to residents of Blofield, near Norwich.
On Sunday, Ann Pratt and her mother Pauline Porter, owners of Blofield Florists, held a small reception for their loyal customers to reflect on their long-standing service to the local community.
Mrs Pratt, 59 explained how their attention to detail and personal care had helped them survive increasing competition from larger retailers and supermarkets, and revealed that the store was now busier than ever.
"Every order is important to us, however big or small, and customers keep coming back," she said.
"We can remember preparing flowers to celebrate the births of babies and then preparing the arrangements for those babies' weddings .
"Customers who have moved abroad to Bahrain and Dubai still ring us up to prepare flowers for their local relatives and friends."
She added that the major advantage of being a small business was that they could take fresh flower deliveries each day and avoid buying in bulk.
"Our flowers have earned the reputation of lasting two or three weeks," the florist continued. "Our wholesaler knows he has got to treat us right."
