A Scarborough florist has been crowned the best newcomer in the Interflora Florist of the Future competition for the north east.
The regional accolade means 37 year-old Dawn Dyson-Threadgold will now go on to compete against nine other regional winners in the finals of the national competition, which will take place in April at the Interflora annual conference in Manchester.
Commenting on the award, Mrs Dyson-Threadgold said: "It is a fantastic opportunity to be named the regional winner. It is quite scary actually as it puts me in the top 10 new florists in the country, I can't believe it really."
"I am really looking forward to the final. It is fantastic to be involved, both personally for me and for Louise Florist ."
Mrs Dyson-Threadgold previously spent 15 years working in theatre as a stage manager before switching to the floristry industry. She has been working at Scarboroughs Louise Florist for the past three years and has no regrets over her move.
"It has been a bit of a career change for me, and I love it," she added.
"I love working with the flowers and the design element to my job. To be recognised like this so early on in my career is fantastic."
