Top Florist Adopts Facebook Connect Technology

Wed, 09 Dec 2009

Leading online florist Serenata Flowers has teamed up with social network giant Facebook in an effort to boost trade through its award-winning online flower delivery service.

Facebook’s Connect technology allows users to log in to SerenataFlowers.com using their Facebook account details.

Once they have logged in, users can then share information about Serenata's products and services with their Facebook friends, which the flower company hopes will not only increasing awareness of the Serenata brand but also drive traffic to its site.

Commenting on the move, Peter Ahl, managing director of Serenata Flowers, said: "Facebook is a growing worldwide phenomenon and we are delighted to become one of the first UK retail sites to integrate with Facebook Connect."

"Facebook members can ask their friends what they think of a certain product, so basically, customers will be able to bring their friends shopping with them to our site."

"I can see the benefit for men in a dating scenario where they are looking to send flowers to someone but need to find the right balance. Here they will be able to ask their friends for advice."

A large number of companies and social networking sites in the US have already adopted Facebook Connect technology. Using it for authentication has been proved to significantly increase user registrations and overall site engagement.
