The Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show will be shown exclusively on the BBC for the next five years thanks to a new deal between the British broadcaster and the RHS .
The new agreement guarantees the BBC exclusive broadcast rights for the four major RHS flowers shows until 2013.
The RHS shows that will be covered include the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Chelsea Flower Show, the Malvern Spring Flower Show and the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park.
The Chelsea Flower Show has been a regular success for the BBC, with this years event, held in May, frequently attracting audiences of more than 3 million.
Both the BBC and the RHS will collaborate on BBC2's Gardeners' World and the BBC's Gardener Of The Year event, which culminates in a final on BBC2 .
Commenting on the deal, RHS director general Inga Grimsey, said: "Sharing our passion for plants, gardens and gardening with the widest possible audience is at the heart of our charitable mission."
"The BBC has consistently delivered impressive coverage of our shows over the past eight years, helping us to inspire and inform millions of people," Grimsey added.
