The Greenfingers Appeal has called for support from UK garden centres in a bid to raise funds for 10 gardens to mark its 10th anniversary next year.
The National garden centre-supported charity, which creates sensory gardens for childrens hospices, is urging stores that have not yet nominated a charity for their Christmas grotto to donate proceeds to them.
Over the past 10 years Greenfingers has created 27 hospice gardens across the country using money raised by garden centres .
The charity runs a range of industry-supported campaigns including Greenfingers Week, Care for Tea, Dragon Boat Challenge, Employee Giving and e-Christmas Cards .
Greenfingers chairman Richard Jackson said: "Although we realise that this is very short notice, we are hoping that some centres will be able to help support Greenfingers in its invaluable work creating magical gardens for childrens hospices around the UK ."
"There are currently 10 hospices around the country that urgently need our gardens and we are keen to raise as much money as possible over the Christmas period in order to start creating these much-needed gardens ."
He added that garden centres that are already supporting other causes can help by placing collection boxes in their store cafés or by the till.
