Preston Florist Thriving Thanks To New City Hotel

Tue, 11 Nov 2008

A new multi million pound hotel in Preston has helped boost business for one of the city’s flower shops .

The £4.5 million Legacy Preston International Hotel has singed a partnership arrangement with Margaret Mason’s Florists, whereby the latter is contracted to supply all of the floral requirements of future events at 75-bedroom hotel .

The hotel has seen a flurry of bookings since it opened for business early last month and is now working closely with the florists thanks to its founder Margaret Mason, who provided the flowers for the hotel’s first day of trading .

Margaret single-handedly set-up her special events florist shop 47 years ago and now has a team of 30 staff helping her maintain the florists high standards.

Commenting on the partnership, Margaret said: "I noticed there was a new hotel being built in Preston, and I was very impressed with what I saw and wanted to be included."

"We’re a forward-thinking business and supply hotels all over the UK with flowers and props for their special events, so it’s only right that we should be supplying a local hotel, especially as it’s just down the road from us.

She continued: "When I approached them I found all of the staff very approachable and we instantly built-up a business relationship."

"We had a great time supplying the flowers for the launch and we’re looking forward to supplying the Preston International with everything they need for its future events."

Andy Townsend, chief executive of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, added: "This is a prime example of how the arrival of a hotel such as the Preston International can benefit the local economy, by attracting visitors to the city and providing business opportunities for local companies."
