Liverpool Florist Uses Iconic Car For Deliveries

Thu, 04 Dec 2008

A flower shop boss in Formby, Liverpool, has revealed her love for her delivery assistant – a 1972 ‘Herbie’ Beetle.

Jane Marsh, joint owner of Platinum Bouquet with Sharon Ellis, bought the Volkswagen Beetle in May as a reward for passing her floristry exams.

The self-confessed Herbie films fan painted the car in honour of the famous vehicle and even included the famous number 53 on the bonnet.

Jane now uses the vehicle to make flower deliveries around the Formby area and admitted that her customers are often more interested in the car than the flowers .

She said: "I get a lot of comments from customers when I deliver their flowers . They say ‘nice car’ and I stand there thinking, ‘well, what about the flowers ?".

"The car is a bit like Herbie in the films as he can be a little bit temperamental," she added. "He doesn’t like the cold weather and going out in the rain, but I love the car and won’t part with him for anything."
