The Southport Flower Show opened for business today, with some of the biggest names in horticulture showcasing their talents over the next four days.
The show was officially launched this morning by Tomorrow morning, singer and ITV Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan, along with Gardeners World expert Stefan Buczacki.
This years event, which is expected to attract around 80,000 visitors, has a 2008 Capital of Culture theme and features a host of plant and flower displays, a flower-covered Superlambanana called Dolly and a "wealth of entertainment" for both adults and children.
David Jackson, the shows chief executive, said, "All our gardens feature Liverpool landmarks and highlights of the city ."
"Its an ideal environment for children to learn about gardening from friendly, down to earth experts, like David Bellamy."
The National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners (NSALG) are present this year to offer some of the best tips for allotment gardeners .
The gardeners are on hand to help visitors wanting to make vegetables and flowers flourish in the smallest places, such as a bucket.
Other great features of the show include unusual floral displays including a pink flower sculpture created to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Entry to the Southport Flower Show is free for children under 16 when accompanied by a full paying visitor.
