The seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk has reclaimed its title as Garden Resort of the East Coast after picking up a major Anglia in Bloom award .
The small town won the Coastal Trophy for the best coastal town, beating off competition from places such as Lowestoft, Sheringham, Clacton and Hunstanton.
Judges of the Anglia in Bloom event, which took place at the Trinity Park Showground on the edge of Ipswich, heaped praise on the town for its fantastic floral displays - both civic flowers and those of schools' and residents' gardens .
In addition, the town was also commended for its efforts to control litter and graffiti, promote environmental awareness and recycling, and for community involvement regarding all these projects.
Susan Robinson, clerk to Felixstowe Town Council, said: "We are absolutely delighted - it is a fantastic success."
"The resort looks beautiful and if anything even better than when the judges came, all the floral displays are at their peak now," she added.
The town also featured as a finalist in the conservation category for the work being carried out at Landguard Nature Reserve.
The Felixstowe in Flower design, sponsored by the Port of Felixstowe and organised by the town council, was the towns masterpiece entry into the competition .
Collecting the trophy on behalf of Felixstowe were the towns mayor Joan Sennington and cemetery and gardens superintendent Peter Rodwell.
