Local Garden Taken Over By Sculptures For Exhibition

A Dorset garden has been transformed into a sculpture gallery for a local art exhibition .

The wooded garden, belonging to artist Hugh Dunford in the centre of Lyme Regis, opened for the town's fifth ArtsFest Open Studio trail and includes a wide range of sculptures arriving from across Europe .

Around 50 sculpture pieces from over 20 contributors, who each have special links with the town, have been included for the open air display, which Mr Dunford described as "a feast of texture and form".

Included in the exhibition are a tall willow angel sculpture made by Kim Creswell from Somerset, and large balanced stones by Adrian Gray from Lyme Regis.

Half of the artists involved are from the Dorset area, while the remaining contributors come from the rest of the UK as well as European locations including Portugal and Germany .

"This is an attempt to broaden the scope of the Open Studios and to bring some new ideas and new visitors to Lyme," he said.

"I hope it can be shown that any garden - even public gardens - can be enhanced by the introduction of art ."
