A young florist walked away with first prize at a major regional flower competition .
Natalie Downie, 17, who works at Country Fayre Florists, York, was named the winner in her category for her seasonal bouquet.
Her winning formula beat the rest of the competition to come top in the trainee group of the Yorkshire and Humberside regional meeting for Teleflorists, who are a worldwide florist organisation, which delivers blooms to doorsteps across the globe .
The young florist worker designed a hand-tied floral arrangement, based on a spring theme that included mini gerbera, carnations, narcissi, bamboo, and chrysanthemums.
They were then presented to the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Janet Hopton.
York College student, Natalie said she had been "really excited" to win first prize.
"It was my first competition. It took me a while to think about the design of what I wanted to do," she said.
Owner of the Country Fayre, Lindsay Lancaster said, "I think she's done fantastically well. She's only been doing this for a couple of months."
She added, "I know she's going to be one of the up and coming florists. She's just taken to it like a duck to water."
