This years Chelsea Flower Show, taking place from 22 26 May, is set to include a visually stunning display of the best in UK-produced fruit, cut flowers, vegetables, plants, and herbs as one of the star attractions among the floral exhibitors at the event.
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) and British growers have formed a partnership called, NS&I: Growing Britain, which is represented by the National Farmers Union, and hopes to showcase the diverse, professional and dynamic horticultural UK industry alongside one of the countrys largest financial providers.
NS&I have been providing financial services in the UK since 1861 and will proudly sponsor the display, which is constructed from materials sourced entirely from British suppliers and featuring British produce.
The NS&I: Growing Britain showpiece will display fruit, vegetables, cut flowers, herbs and plants all supplied by British producers in 25 galvanised steel cubes and towers that represent growth modernism, and security .
The towers will range from 30cm to 2.3m in height and will be lit-up by spotlights, while a channel of water will also be illuminated running through the central feature.
More than 60 different types of fruit and veg, herbs, plants, and flowers will be showcased in the display, including several diverse varieties of mushroom, brightly coloured peppers, several kinds of potato, strawberries, an array of tomatoes, aubergines, fuchsias and lilies all produced by UK growers.
NS&I sales director, John Prout said, "Theres a perfect natural synergy between NS&I and British growers and were enormously proud to be associated with all that is great about British horticulture."
Penny Riley, designer of NS&I: Growing Britain added, "I am very excited about the Chelsea Flower Show this year. Our exhibit, with its bold design, is going to look really quite spectacular and will be a major feature of the Great Pavilion for 2007."
"With the support of NS&I, British growers will have their produce on display in an impressive exhibit."
